HERE LIES
KIERAN CROWDER

WELCOME

HERE LIES is a multi-disciplinary art project by Brixton based Kieran Crowder. It combines painting, photography, text, original music and sound design (including live and recorded speech), and - in its most complete, installed form - behavioural rules. It can be staged almost anywhere, because of its modular nature - even in multiple locations simultaneously.

The version assembled for this web site shows a number of HERE LIES’ paintings and photographs. Other pages contain elements of the audio and text that are also a part of the HERE LIES experience, along with a critical essay by Malcolm Quinn.

HERE LIES was first staged at Brixton’s MASS nightclub in April 2000. Elements of the project featured in exhibitions in Yorkshire in 2003, supported by Arts Council England; and at The Arts Institute, Bournemouth 2004. HERE LIES is to be staged in its entirety at the London studios of photographer Tim Flach, Spring 2005. Please see forthcoming for more detailed information.

Crowder supports his experimental activities across all media with his work as a painter: his non-Here Lies paintings are a distinctive and sought after presence on the contemporary scene. This work is represented in London and internationally by Karen Taylor Contemporary Art (0208 241 2020) and throughout the rest of England by Turner Fine Art (0121 241 8608)
